Towards Cognitive AI

The first generation of AI solutions were narrow and task specific. The current paradigms of AI and Machine learning are focusing on broad and flexible methods that can be adapted for a wide range of problems and applications. The third wave of AI will bring systems that present a wide range of capabilities at depth: representation, learning, knowledge, reasoning, language, perception, collaboration, autonomy, and embodiment form the vectors of intelligence. We call systems that present capabilities along all these axes "Cognitive AI", and are interested in specifying and evaluating progress in building the next generation of AI systems.
